The first Open House was a success! About 30 people joined Lou Maroulis, Joe Bozik and other FMGG members for a tour of the 100-year-old wood house and attached 1920s greenhouse, Fr. Francis’ vegetable and flower gardens, the 1950s-era root cellar (used now for storage) and the monastery beehives.
Among the plants in the ground now: arugula, radishes, tomatoes, cabbage, snow peas, beets, swiss chard and garlic. Discussions covered plants (and weeds), mulch (we use mushroom mulch), birdhouses and purple marlins, beekeeping and honey harvesting, plans to move to a year-round greenhouse, and m
